Finca El Injerto

Finca El Injerto was founded in 1874 by Jesús Aguirre Panamá. At first, the farm grew corn, tobacco, beans, and sugarcane. It wasn’t until 1990 that the Aguirre family began cultivating coffee professionally. The farm was named El Injerto after a local fruit called “Injerto” that was found in the region. Location & EnvironmentEl Injerto is located in Huehuetenango, one of Guatemala’s most celebrated coffee regions. This area is known for its steep mountains and narrow valleys. Thanks to the warm, dry winds from Mexico’s Tehuantepec Valley, coffee can thrive at altitudes of 1,500–2,000 meters, something that would normally be impossible at this northern latitude. International RecognitionEl Injerto has become a global legend for its outstanding quality, especially in the Cup of Excellence (COE) competitions:
Production & ManagementThe Aguirre family is known for their meticulous attention to detail and continuous innovation. El Injerto manages its own vertically integrated production chain, ensuring quality at every step:
The farm covers 447 hectares, of which 245 hectares are planted with coffee. The rest is dedicated to preserving native forest and biodiversity. These protected forests regulate climate, provide clean spring water, and serve as a sanctuary for wildlife. With annual rainfall of 1,800–2,000 mm, relative humidity of around 75%, and fertile volcanic soils rich in organic matter, El Injerto enjoys optimal conditions for producing world-class coffees. Varieties & InnovationEl Injerto has been a pioneer of specialty coffee in Central America. Over 50 years ago, it was among the first farms to focus on single varieties and high-quality production. Today, it cultivates a wide range of varieties, including:
These coffees have set record prices at international auctions, attracting roasters and collectors worldwide. Sustainability & Social ResponsibilityEl Injerto is also a leader in sustainability:
Spirit & VisionWith resilience, vision, and a passion for coffee, the current Aguirre family leadership has made El Injerto a global symbol of quality, efficiency, and sustainability. Their commitment to tradition and innovation ensures that every harvest represents the very best of Guatemala’s specialty coffee. |
